Pep Boys Gets Another CEO … This One Interim

Sep 30, 2024

Pep Boys has appointed Joe Auriemma as its interim CEO, and The Greensheet has learned that David Willetts, who became the president and CEO of Pep Boys earlier this year, is no longer with the company.

Auriemma would be at least the third CEO (permanent or interim) for Pep Boys since 2023.

At the time of Willetts’ appointment atop Pep Boys, we were told that the previous CEO, Scott Collette, had transitioned to COO, where he was tasked with driving the company’s greenfield initiatives, acquisitions and the evaluation of new service offerings.

Collette, a retail veteran, joined Pep Boys in early 2023 from Menards, where he had been COO.

Collette is no longer with Pep Boys.

Back to Auriemma, Pep Boys hired him earlier this year to be its chief marketing officer, responsible for leading and transforming all marketing functions of Pep Boys. Prior to that, he was the vice president of marketing for Pfizer.

His background also includes various roles with The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, including vice president of category planning and analytics for the Americas as well as head of revenue management, analytics and insights for company-owned retail.

“Under Joe’s leadership, the company is well-positioned to focus on operational excellence, enhancing the customer experience and building a strong future for Pep Boys,” the company stated on Sept. 26, 2024 in announcing Auriemma’s appointment. “Joe and his team will prioritize executing the company’s strategic growth goals and continuing to focus on talent development and fostering a strong workplace culture.”

Pep Boys has a network of over 850 automotive service shops across the United States, including Puerto Rico.
