The international Advanced Vehicle Technology Education and Credentialing Coalition (AVTECC) has announced Joseph Myers as vice president.
Myers will join AVTECC in November upon his retirement as technician development manager for Toyota North America and leader of Toyota’s Technician Training and Education Network (T-TEN). Myers brings 40 years of industry experience to AVTECC. He has spent the past 21 years in technician education and training.
AVTECC is a non-profit working to reimagine the way in which technicians are prepared and certified, especially in light of electric vehicles and ADAS. The goal is to be certain that technicians have the skills required to service, diagnose and repair these vehicles. AVTECC will provide industry standards, program accreditation and skills-based certification.
The group expects to introduce a skills-based certification model in January.
AVTECC was introduced last summer during a keynote address at the North American Council of Automotive Teachers Conference in Indianapolis.
