Fort Lauderdale, FL-based AutoNation Inc., the largest U.S. automotive retailer, has entered into an agreement to acquire RepairSmith for $190 million. The transaction is expected to close in the first quarter of 2023, subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approval.
RepairSmith is a full-service mobile auto repair and maintenance provider headquartered in Los Angeles. Like AutoNation, RepairSmith has a significant operational footprint in the Southern and Western United States.
AutoNation CEO Mike Manley said RepairSmith expands AutoNation’s ability to penetrate the aftersales service market and respond to customers’ needs by broadening the reach of its existing aftersales network. Additionally, RepairSmith offers customers the convenience of service and repair work done at their homes, workplaces or on-site for fleet vehicles.
AutoNation also plans to use RepairSmith as a resource for reconditioning and internal services.
