ASE, the ASE Education Foundation and WrenchWay are partnering to promote School Assist for connecting vehicle service employers and schools when it comes to finding classroom resources as well as creating a workforce pipeline.
WrenchWay, an online community dedicated to promoting and improving technician careers, created School Assist. The goal is to make it easier for high schools and post-secondary schools to work with the industry.
Schools can use WrenchWay to make requests for guest speakers, shop tours, tool donations, internships and more.
Shops, dealerships and others can scroll through the requests, connect with schools, and start a relationship to build their future workforce from students enrolled in these programs.
School Assist also allows industry members to post available resources for educators, allowing schools to reach out via the platform to collaborate on opportunities to benefit students and potential employers.
The platform currently has more than 1,100 participating schools across the United States.
With the new partnership, the ASE Education Foundation will invite its 2,000 ASE-accredited training programs to join the School Assist platform for free.
Currently, 1,000 shops and dealerships have access to School Assist through WrenchWay’s Top Shop membership program.
As part of the ASE partnership, a new lower-cost option will be available to shops, dealerships and other industry partners that want to connect with schools via School Assist but do not need the full WrenchWay Top Shop program.
Additionally, ASE and WrenchWay will work together to continue growing School Assist as “the go-to solution for both schools and industry partners.” This includes joint marketing efforts as well as collaborative product development.
“At ASE, we recognize the critical importance of connecting schools with the transportation industry to ensure the next generation of service professionals are well-prepared for the workforce,” said Dave Johnson, president and CEO of ASE. “Our partnership with WrenchWay, utilizing School Assist, allows us to super-charge those connections previously enabled by our Adopt-A-School program.
“It provides schools with the tools and resources they need in one centralized platform. This partnership underscores our commitment to solving the technician shortage by bringing industry and education together to create local solutions for a national problem.”
