ASA Presents Annual Awards, Swears In New Board

The Automotive Service Association (ASA) honored the following people and organizations at its 2022 Annual Business Meeting held May 12 in Hurst, TX …
• Phoenix Award: Tony Molla, a former ASA team member, for far-reaching contributions to the automotive service industry.
• Alpha Award: Andy Fiffick, owner of Rad Air Complete Car Care (Parma Heights, OH), for far-reaching contributions to the automotive service industry.
• Legislative Award: Frank Leutz, owner of Desert Car Care Center (Chandler, AZ), for his impact on legislative and regulatory activities.
• Chairman’s Award of Excellence (2020-’21): Todd Black, owner of Unlimited Service (Bellingham, WA).
• Chairman’s Award of Excellence (2021-‘22): Jeff Buckley, owner of My Father’s Shop (Midlothian, TX).
• Past Chairman Recognition Award: Bob Wills of Battle Creek, MI, the founder and retired owner of Wills Auto Service.
• Benefit Provider of the Year Award: Tekmetric for its relationship with ASA and for the value, quality and professional service it offers members.
• Communicator of the Year Award: Leona Dalavai Scott, a former ASA team member, for effectively delivering messages to advance professionalism and excellence within the automotive service and repair industry.

ASA’s new board of directors began their terms at the close of the meeting. Serving the second year of two-year terms on the board are …
• Chairman: Fred Hules II of Tech 1 Auto (Peoria, AZ).
• Chairman-Elect: Scott Benavidez of Mr. B’s Paint & Body Shop (Albuquerque, NM).
• Secretary-Treasurer: Tom Piippo of Tri-County Motors (Rudyard, MN), who was reelected by the board for a one-year term.

Additionally, incumbent Dan Stander of Fix Auto Highlands Ranch (Littleton, CO) was reelected and sworn in for his second two-year term as general director, and incumbent John Firm of Firm Automotive (Fort Worth, TX) was sworn in for a two-year term as mechanical division director.

Brandon Mehdizadeh of Lamettry’s Collision (Minnetonka, MN) was installed after being elected to serve a one-year term as ASA’s collision division director, a vacancy created when Mike LeVasseur resigned this month.

Judi Haglin of Haglin Automotive & Boulder Transmission (Boulder, CO) was sworn in for the second of a two-year term as a general director, and Roy Schnepper of Butler’s Collision (Roseville, MI) was sworn in for the second year of a two-year term as immediate past chairman.
