The Amalie Oil Co. of Tampa has acquired the Delfin Group USA, a lubricant blending and packaging facility in Charleston, SC. Financial terms of the transaction have not been disclosed. Delfin has a 42-acre facility on the Cooper River deep-water channel at the Port of North Charleston, giving Amalie two facilities in U.S. ports with deep-water access.
The facility also features 14 million gallons of tank storage, increasing Amalie’s total tank storage to 32 million gallons. And, Amalie now owns more than 650,000 square feet of warehouse and manufacturing space along with 20 high-speed filling and packaging lines, increasing the company’s blow molding plastic bottle capacity to over 250 million containers per year.
“This new facility is an opportunity for us to enhance our ability to service both the domestic and international markets,” said Harry Barkett, president of Amalie.
Amalie bills itself as the largest family owned, independent blender of motor oil and industrial lubricants in North America. The company produces engine oil for passenger cars as well as synthetic blends, transmission fluid, airboat oil, hydraulics oil and more.
